about David Goetze
Born in Clearwater, Florida, David Goetze began drawing at a very early age. Goetze studied fine art, illustration and sculpture at the Ringling School of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida from 1989-1993 and painting and photography at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, New York City in 1993.
“I endeavor to reflect in my art that which I experience in my life. Therefore, a work of art for me, as a frozen moment of experience, would describe a range of sensations, many in contradiction.
My primary subject, the figure, described in both realistic and abstract space, serves as a universal armature upon which the viewer can hang a wide spectrum of emotions.”
This perception of duality is expressed aesthetically through the combination of seemingly incompatible media. Traditional color schemes, textures and uses of light are coupled with modern techniques, palettes and patterns to create an image which appears simultaneously ancient and futuristic.
David Goetze’s startling yet seductive abstract and figurative paintings can be found in many private and corporate collections throughout the United States and around the world.
